Puerto Natales, Chile. This is the town people trekking in Torres del Paine use a a jump-off point. It has almost no charm, except a marked similarity to Cicely, the Alaskan town in Northern Exposure. The hostel we stayed in there left much to be desired, esepcially a clean bathroom, but did come with very helpful staff who calmed our concerns about hiking for days on end in wild Chilean countryside. And they had an extremely cute kitten. Posted by Picasa
